Foundation Repair, Replacement
and New Installation
Foundation Repairs
Foundation problems are often caused by soil movement, poor drainage, seismic activity, deteriorating foundations, or construction flaws, all of which can destabilize a home. At Point Pacific Drilling, we not only offer drilling services, but we can also partner with our sister company, Sonoma-Marin Construction, to provide repairs or replacements of failed or aging foundations. The two companies together bring 50+ years of experience to every job, utilizing clean, efficient methods tailored to each specific site. If you do not have a full construction team already lined up to finish your project, our sister company would be more than happy to partner with Point Pacific Drilling to get the full job done.
Our Foundation Repair Solutions Include:
- Drilled Piers
- Helical Piers
- Resistance Piers
- Underpinning
- Foundation Upgrades
- And many more!
Foundation Replacement
Houses built in the late 1800s, early 1900s, and unfortunately, even new homes, often were built with inadequate foundations or faulty construction standards, and since original construction, many have had extensive remodeling and additions. These conditions may require houses to have new foundations installed under them. To complete a full or even partial foundation replacement, it is required for houses to be shored up or even lifted to allow for this work to happen. Our company has been shoring and lifting structures for over 50 years with our own shoring equipment, making us a one stop shop.
We maintain a comprehensive understanding of various foundation technologies and can provide a consultation on the most appropriate solution for your specific needs, or refer you to trusted partners for alternative solutions. With a team of engineers that work closely with our company for these kinds of projects, we have all the tools we need to take on aging foundation projects from start to finish.
New Foundation Installation
If you are building a new home or adding to your existing home, we can provide anything from a concrete slab to an intricate foundation using our half century of construction experience to complete every job.

Retaining Wall & Soldier Pile Systems
Robust Solutions for Slope Stabilization and Earth Retention
On challenging terrains like those in the Bay Area, managing slopes, supporting excavations, and preventing soil movement is critical. At Point Pacific Drilling, we specialize in building soldier pile systems and cast-in-place concrete and wood retaining walls to provide durable soil stabilization systems
Cast-In-Place Concrete and Wood Retaining Walls
For durable, long-term retaining solutions, we construct cast-in-place concrete or wood retaining walls based on engineered plans provided by your team. Whether designed to reinforce hillsides, level building pads, or safeguard driveways, roads, and structures, we bring expert execution to every project. Each wall we build is constructed to meet your site’s specific soil conditions, structural requirements, and applicable building codes
Soldier Pile Systems
Soldier piles are structural steel or wood beams that are placed into drilled holes and typically paired with wood lagging or concrete placed between the beams to retain earth. This type of system is great for temporary or permanent solutions for a wide array of applications and can be tailored to the geological conditions of the site

Concrete Pier Installation
What Are Drilled Concrete Piers?
Drilled concrete piers are a time-tested deep foundation system used to provide a solid base for structures. These foundations are created by drilling a deep, cylindrical hole into the ground, often extending to a stable layer of bedrock or dense soil. A reinforcing steel cage, known as rebar, is then lowered into the hole to provide tensile strength, followed by the pouring of high-strength concrete. This process creates a structurally sound column that can support immense weight and resist various forces. You may hear them referred to by other names, such as caissons, drilled shafts, CIDH (Cast-in-Drilled-Hole) piles, or bored piles.
Why Are They the Right Choice?
A concrete pier foundation is a versatile solution for a range of challenging soil and construction conditions. They are particularly effective when:
- Soil is Weak or Expansive: Piers bypass weak, soft, or expansive soils that can shift and damage a foundation over time, transferring the load to a much deeper, more stable layer.
- Lateral Forces Are a Concern: They provide excellent resistance to horizontal (lateral) forces from wind, water, or seismic activity.
- Slope Stability is Needed: Piers are a critical component for stabilizing structures built on slopes or hillsides, preventing erosion and soil movement.
- Foundation Repair is Required: For existing structures experiencing settlement, drilled piers can be installed to underpin the foundation and prevent further sinking.
Common Applications
- New Construction Deep Foundations: Creating a strong base for large buildings and bridges.
- Retaining Walls: Providing crucial support to prevent soil erosion and landslides.
- Foundation Underpinning & Repair: Stabilizing settled or failing foundations.
- Seismic Reinforcement: Enhancing a structure's ability to withstand earthquake forces.
By choosing drilled concrete piers, you're investing in a durable and reliable foundation that ensures the long-term stability and safety of your project.
